For most couples who want it free, Joy. If you’d rather pay once and keep ads and vendors out of your guest list, Amovera. Both score at the top of our guest rubric (Amovera 9.5, Joy 9), and they’re the two we’d trust with a multi-event wedding.
Joy’s RSVP tools are the reason many couples pick it. It groups guests into households, supports named or blank plus-ones, collects replies per event, asks meal and dietary questions plus your own custom questions, and sends email reminders for free. Amovera works differently: there’s no wedding website. Which RSVP app handles households and plus-ones best?
Joy and Amovera, then The Knot. Joy groups guests into households and lets you add a named or blank plus-one. Amovera groups guests by party, counts adults, children and infants, and sends one link per party. The Knot organizes guests by person and household. Minted lets a guest look themselves up and answer for the whole party.
Zola supports plus-ones and children, but App Store reviewers note it allows only two adults per household unit, which is awkward for families with grown children living at home.
Which RSVP apps are unreliable?
Every platform has bad threads, and the complaints cluster around the same failure modes: lost replies, name matching and messaging.
- Zola: a 2026 thread titled “My wedding site keeps losing RSVPs” has guests saying their replies didn’t go through (thread). Another couple wrote they were “full of regret” after choosing Zola for RSVPs (thread).
- Joy: a “PSA don’t use with joy” post says it was buggy and they couldn’t email only the guests who RSVP’d yes to one specific event (thread).
