The Knot has been around since 1996 and is, first of all, a vendor marketplace: about 200,000 US vendors and 14.6 million reviews, with a free website, guest list, registry and checklist attached. Amovera, launched in May 2026, is the opposite kind of product: a paid planner with no marketplace, no ads and no registry. As planning tools they are not close. As free vendor-discovery platforms, only one of them is in the game.

Which is better for planning the wedding?
Amovera, on every core planning tool. The Knot has cut back its planning features while Amovera is built around them.
The Knot retired its old Budgeter for Budget Advisor, which estimates local costs but does not track what you have paid. Amovera tracks each expense from planned to paid, logs several payments per item, warns you about due dates and handles USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD and more. That matters when 69% of couples go over their initial budget and the average 2025 wedding cost $34,000, by The Knot’s own count.
The Knot has no digital seating chart; it sells printed seating-chart signs. Amovera’s seating planner uses drag and drop, round, square, rectangle and sweetheart tables, auto-build, and a separate printable plan for each event, all tied to RSVPs. And where The Knot’s help center says you cannot add your partner’s email, Amovera includes two accounts with real-time shared editing and tasks you can assign to each other.
Which has better RSVPs and guest tools?
Amovera, by a smaller margin. Both group households and handle per-event RSVPs, but Amovera adds per-party links, reminder emails and exports.
Each party gets its own RSVP link with an optional password, plus-ones and dietary needs, and Amovera sends follow-up reminders. You can export guests, seating and budget to CSV or PDF any time. The Knot’s RSVPs run through its free website and sync meal choices back to your list, and it tracks gifts and thank-you notes. Several 2026 App Store reviews say custom text and email messages to guests were reduced, and some report guest lists not loading in the app shortly before the wedding. We could not verify a guest-list export in The Knot’s help center.
Which is better for privacy and vendor spam?
Amovera. It has no marketplace, no ads in the app and no leads to sell. The Knot’s business runs on connecting you with vendors.
When you contact a vendor through The Knot, its privacy policy says it passes your information and message on so the vendor can contact you. The policy covers the whole Knot Worldwide group, including WeddingWire, and says some disclosures to outside companies may count as a “sale” under state law. Reddit’s most repeated tip is to sign up with a separate wedding email. Amovera’s policy says it does not sell personal information to data brokers or share guest lists and budgets with advertisers; its public website does run Google Analytics and Meta Pixel to market itself. It costs nothing. Its vendor directory is the largest in the US, and if you are still looking for a venue, that is worth a lot. The website and registry are free, digital save-the-dates are free, and Cash Funds take no cut from The Knot, though guests paying by card pay a 2.5% fee you cannot cover. Its apps run on iOS and Android with hundreds of thousands of ratings. Amovera is web-only, has no registry or website builder, and has no independent reviews yet.

The Knot is the best choice if finding US vendors is your main job: its marketplace is the biggest, and the website, guest list and registry are free. As a planning tool it has fallen behind. It dropped its expense tracker in 2025 and has no seating chart or partner accounts, and every inquiry feeds a lead-driven vendor business. Use it for discovery and the website, and plan the rest somewhere else.
